Joye's Update 4/15/08
Today was pretty quiet. Andrew did a lot of sleeping. He finally woke up and was pretty alert at about 6pm. I was able to catch him up on all of your posts and we were able to pray together. It's so evident to me that Andrew's faith in God's healing power is pulling him through this. It has been decided that he will receive the tracheotomy on Thursday at 11:30am. Please pray for that surgery to go well. It's not a terribly difficult surgery; however, because of his neck fusion surgery, they are not able to extend the neck as they would normally like to do for this surgery. It makes it a little more tricky, but they still say it's not too difficult. Later that day he will also have a feeding tube put through his belly. He is unable to eat with the trach for now, so that's how he'll receive nutrients. He's still doing great emotionally, and he's still has me saying the alphabet about 100 times per day. It gets a little comical when he has just received his morphine and is trying to spell out words for me. He's not such a good speller then. He also got some new snazzy boots. They are lined with fur and they make it so his legs don't turn out and so he doesn't develop this thing called "drop foot." When we showed them to him he made me play the alphabet game and he spelled out H-U-G-G-S. I was so happy he wanted me to hug him, then I realized he meant Ugs. He was telling me his new boots were his Ugs (those fury boots the girls are wearing lately). He keeps the nurses laughing around here . . . they all love him. Well, I think I'll close for now . . . Andrew is still very alert and wants to "talk" some more tonight. He is really loving your posts. He made me spell out E-M-A-I-L today which meant he was asking me to read his posts. Thank you so much for that. Good night and God Bless. Joye

Hey Langley, just got my #$#%$taxes done and thought I would get a note off to ya. Glad to read from Joye that you're finally learning to spell!
My son, Ian, wanted me to wish you well and a speedy recovery to you. However, don't be impatient! It all will take some time so just slow down.. . .so take a moment and then continue. I have seen that impatient attitude in action. Take it from me, the calm one around here, HA!
Love ya, Suz

OH! joye could you please tell Andrew I love him very very much!

Hi Joye,
I've been following all of your posts and so has my family. We are all praying for you as well as my Optimist Club and close friends. Can't believe your 2-yr anniversary is coming up soon, too. I think we were married only about a week apart. Thinking of you so often and praying tons. God IS the Great Physician!
Hello Joye and Langley,
As I read Joye's blogg updates, I definately hear the old Langley coming out! I am glad your spirits are upbeat. I can just see the whites of your eyes turning at the wheel, trying to spell what sarcastic remark is coming to mind. Good thing for the nursing staff you are not at your full potential. I will be pulling for you on Thursday. I still would like to come visit when the time is right.

Goodmorning Joye and Drew~
Good to hear that he is getting plenty of rest, his body needs it.
Another surgery isnt the greatest news, but if it will help him, it's well worth it. Hopefully once that is done, he can just focus on recovering.
Keep your strength, both of you. Joye....the level of strength you have shown and continue to show is both amazing and impressive. Drew is so blessed to have you.
Again, if there is anything we can do, just let me know.
And may today bring more good news and progress......
Also, Michael says to hurry and get better so you two can hit the gym!
(Oh, and by the way.....Ugs are for girls, so good luck ever living that one down!!!) :)
Get better Drew, and as always, you two are in our thoughts and prayers.

You are a very strong person and you will pull through this just take your time and listen to the doctors and especially to Joye! I spoke to Joye this morning as she was looking for Erin. Hang in there, get plenty of rest and come back to work smiling like you always do. My son Jayden wishes you well also. AND..Don't worry boys can have Ugg's too!!

Thank you for taking the time to keep us posted Joye. Take care of yourself and tell Drew I said "hello and that I'm praying for him." God Bless.
Joye and Andrew,
Even though you're going through some difficult times, it sounds as though the two of you are getting some quality time together (all the prayers, communication games, HUGS and I love you's), its time like this that certainly puts our lives into perspective doesn't it, enjoy every moment =)
Joye, thank you so much for the updates, reading your blogs is just like listening to you talk in person, I miss you so much! Now if you could just get the Langley accent down! J/K
Well, with tomorrows surgery ahead just remember it's another step closer towards your recovery, rest assured my friends that our prayers will be with you. On that note, I hope today is yet another better day.
Love,
Michele
PS: Thinking of what a site this will be; Langley doing the "chicken dance" in his "Uggs"? Hmmmmmm

Hi Joye and Andrew,
So Langley has some new Ugs. Are they pink? I am thinking we need to have "Wear Your Ugs to Work" day when you get back. Talked to Joye today and she said you were behaving yourself today. You keep up the good work. As I walk down the halls, everyone is asking about you and wants you to know that you are in their thoughts and prayers. I am letting everyone know that you have finally mastered the alphabet.
Keep strong, we love you.....
Hi Joye, thanks again thanks for the updates on Langley. Please let him know that he is constantly in our prayers and send our love. Joye, we're also praying that God continues to give you strength through all this and that you are getting enough rest. We love you guys! Nick & Marie
