Joye's Update 5/12/08
Andrew had a pretty good day today. More rest, as usual, and he did 2 vent weanings. He did better on the second than the first and his numbers are still looking good. There's going to be a lot of days like today; much rest and weanings throughout the day. Nearly everyone in my family as well as many of our friends have read a book that my step mother gave me when Andrew was first put into the CCU at Thunderbird Hospital. It was an incredibly inspirational (true) story and I could hardly put the book down once I started it. The book is called "90 Minutes In Heaven" and is written by Don Piper and Cecil Murphy. I've since ordered the audio version for Andrew to be able to listen to it. I think he will appreciate the story and gain inspiration from it for his own recovery. If you have not read this book, I recommend you pick up a copy and read it. I will also (soon) be taking time out each day to have Andrew listen to the audio Bible that Denny Harkins gave him before we left Phoenix. Denny wanted to make sure that the Word of God stays within Andrew, and I will make sure that happens once Andrew is a little more comfortable and has a little less pain medicine in him. Andrew is slowly gaining his confidence and is feeling safer. We had a long talk tonight and it seemed to help him hear me to reassure him that this is all in the Lords hands and God will take care of him . . . and that he just needs to try hard to relax and turn it over to the Lord and heal. He's feeling better, but still needs to be lifted in prayer to feel more secure. Thank you for your prayers for security and healing for Andrew; I believe the Lord will soon show everyone his glory with a miracle for Andrew. Good Night and God Bless you all. Joye

Langley, big buddy of mine... you are doing a wonderful job, please don't forget that this is not an overnight process. You are in the best place for your recovery, just have faith in yourself and believe in the abilities within yourself. You are a very strong and determined man, don't let any set back that may happen ruin your faith. You are going to walk out of there. And that is going to be the highlight of everyones day. Oh, by the way Olsen wants you to know that he has never been much of a prayer, but he has been praying for you nightly and wishes you the best. He comes to me daily for updates. since he is not a computer nerd. We all continue to pray for you constantly and this will not end today, tomorrow or ever. love and miss ya more than you will ever know. Coming to work is just not the same.

Hey there Drew, when are you going to get your tail back to work and quit all this traveling all over the place. I'm not getting any younger and someone's is going to have to take over, and with some of the other youngsters we have around here we could really use your help. Seriously though take care of yourself and we'll see you when you get back. Later........ the Old Geezer Sgt Baird
P.S. Michele and J say hello and hoping that you get better.
Drew…Chris and I just found out about your challenge just a couple of days ago…and here we were thinking you were avoiding us. We moved back in town and Chris was so happy to see he still had a friend here in Yuma. Just wanted to drop a note to tell you how much we think about you and to let you know we too are praying for you and your family. You have touched our lives more than you know. Joye, thank you so much for this blog…we are reading it daily. (I had a lot of reading to do on Monday ; - ) ) GOD is very good. We love you!
Joye & Drew,
Everyday I log on to see what progress you have made. Your doing a great job. Everyone here says hello they all ask about you and many of them don't have access to a computer so I try to fill them all in every day. Don't get discouraged I know how hard it is to be away from home in the hospital, but it will get easier just give it all to God he is the ultimate healer, he will carry you through this.
Know that you are loved and missed very much.
Always,
Robbin
Joye & Drew,
One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the LORD. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.
For each scene he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: one belonging to him, and the other to the LORD. When the last scene of his life flashed before him,
he looked back at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life. This really bothered him and he
questioned the LORD about it:
"LORD, you said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most
troublesome times in my life, here is only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why when
I needed you most you would leave me."
The LORD replied:
"My son, my precious child,
I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you."
written by Mary Stevenson
I love this poem and I thought it would be a remider of Gods love for us all.
Always,
Robbin
