Joye's Update 6/25/08

Andrew had a pretty good day today. They limited him to only be able to wean for 12 hours as he was not blowing out enough CO2 towards the end of his longer weans yesterday and the day before. This just means he was getting too tired, so they are a little concerned he's going too long and want him to work a little more slowly towards more time weaning. He was very happy to have a "surprise" visit from Mario and Tara Diaz. It wasn't exactly a surprise because someone (I won't mention any names Denny) accidentally told him they were coming. :)~ I'm more surprised it wasn't me who slipped and told him . . . I'm not great at keeping secrets. It was great to see how happy it made Andrew to see them walk in though, and it was really great that Andrew was able to talk to them because he had his "talker" thing on his trach to be able to speak. Thank you so much for your words of encouragement . . . I know that God is hearing our prayers and will continue to work on this for Andrew. Good Night and God Bless. Joye

Hi Joye and Andrew,

Andrew, remember to listen to your body. Rest when it needs it. It's ok to do less than the day before. It's still progress. You are one determined individual, along with the strong wife by your side, it's all going to work. Time. Good to hear you all had a good visit today.
Just checking in.
Until next time.
LOTS OF LOVE!!!!

Joye & Drew,
I've had a lot of reading to catch up on today. Although I wasn't able to get on the computer and find out how things where going for you, you were constantly in my prayers. I know your a fighter Drew but don't go overboard give your body rest when it needs to rest. I am so glad that Tara and Mario stopped in to see you thats great. God always knows what you need even when you don't. I am still prayer for your thumbs =}~

Always
Robbin

Langley, I know that this may seem like a set back on the time they are allowing you to wean. But reason being, that if it's not being done as needed because your body is tired. Then this is truly the time to make those 10 hours as strong as you can. This will build the indurance that your diaphram and lungs need. More isn't necessarily better. Just keep moving forward.. Your body is a lean mean machine it is not rejecting anything your trying to do, it is merely getting it all in sync for the time that it proves medical doctor's wrong. I am so glad Mario & Tara were able to visit you.. They are truly wonderful people. They are friends for life to those they care about and you have won their hearts. It's wonderful to know that your having your friends visit.. This is really great mental medicine. And we all know your a people person.. Keep up the great work. My prayers continue for you always. love ya & miss ya as usual
