Joye's Update 7/8/08

It was another pretty good day today. Andrew's good friend, James arrived today and he really enjoyed having him here. Andrew was practicing his driving in his chair while I was picking James up from the airport today and he had a pretty good wreck into a wall. No broken bones though, so I'm still able to keep my title as "crash." I can't imagine what our walls are going to look like at home once we're there; I pray we both get better at driving before we're sent home. Please continue to pray for Andrew . . . specifically for him to gain enough strength to develop a better cough which will help him to get fully off the ventilator. He's still weaning tonight as I write and the goal is 18 hours if his C02 remains at a decent level (the ideal level is in the 30's or 40's . . . anything higher is not so good). Thank you so much for your prayers. Good Night and God Bless. Joye

Hi Joye and Andrew,

Keep it up Andrew. Sounds like the weaning is going good. Tonights prayer will be for your cough. Never thought I would be praying for a cough, but hey, what ever it takes to help your progress and healing.

Until next time.
LOTS OF LOVE,
DAWN

Hey Drew...glad to hear you are doing so good. Cherry and I went to CA this past weekend and talked about you so I hope your ears were ringing! When you get home and feel good enough, we will come out to visit you and give you a hard time. I miss you and think of you always. xoxo Kathy

Joye & Drew,

As we read your updates we are impressed by your faith, courage and determination. Thank you for your specific prayer requests. They give us focus and a connection.

I can relate to the wheel chair crashes. My older brother was confined to a wheel chair and I can't tell you the number of "wrecks" we had. Our mother got tired of explaining why he had a black eye or sprained ankle. And you are right; the walls of your home will have new imprints.

Blessings to you both as you press on in this journey.
