Joye's Update 6/4/08

Another pretty good day today. Andrew was able to get up in his chair for the first time since his blood clots. He stayed up for about an hour and a half. He did have a headache after, which was to be expected as he's going to have to build a tolerance to it again. An ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat) doctor saw him today to help try and determine where Andrew's throat pain is coming from. And, finally, he was able to find something. Andrew has a small scratch in his throat (most likely happened when Andrew first had the tube placed when he first coded, as this is pretty common in emergency situations) which is being agitated constantly from acid reflux and making it unable to heal. Thank Heaven someone finally diagnosed the problem! Andrew will be able to be treated with an inhaler with medicine that should take this thing away within a week. Other than that, we continue to pray and keep our faith in the Lord that He will heal Andrew completely. Because Andrew's "injury" was not a result of a traumatic event like a car accident or a fall or something, doctors just aren't sure how permanent his situation is. This gives us great hope, and with this hope and prayer . . . we hold not doubt that Andrew will fully recover. This is all in God's hands and we know He is working on this for Andrew. Thank you for your prayers and faith in God to heal Andrew. Good Night and God Bless. Joye

Sgt and Joye,

So glad to hear Sgt can sit up. Progress is progress. We read a poem today - made us think about you:
May thy rich grace impart
Strength to my fainting heart,
My zeal inspire
As Thou hast died for me,
O, may my love for Thee,Pure, warm, and changeless be,--
A living fire!

While life's dark maze I tread,
And griefs around me spread,
Be Thou my guide;
Bid darkness turn to day,
Wipe sorrow's tears away,
Nor let me ever stray
From Thee aside.

God bless you both.

Joye & Drew,

I am so glad that we have more good news that is so awesome, I am glad the ENT found out what the issue in your throat was, and that he will be able to get it fixed quickly. God has really answered our prayers. He may not work in our time and as quickly as we would like, and I am quite sure there are reasons for that. We will continue to keep you both in prayer. Just a few more days and the kids will be there enjoy your time with them and as always keep your eyes on God.

Always,
Robbin

Hi - Langley:

I am glad to hear you are sitting up again. THAT IS GREAT and I am so HAPPY they found out what the problem was in your throat now they can clear that up and you will be feeling better.

Here is the song my brother wrote, sorry Joye but this is going to be a long one.

Langley you used to call my brother, Bobby "Big Dog" so here is his song to you:

"Whats up Langley. Its your little homie you know Cherry's brother. I know about your situation and all and I thought I'd write a rhyme for you. I hope you like it:

BIG DOG
CHORUS: You would call me Big Dog everytime you would see me but I'm gonna tell you right now I'm little compared to you G. I mean you helped alot of fellas stay in line and a whole lot of us are praying to the Devine. We're praying to God on your behalf but it's not anthing new to him - he already did the math. And I know he already solved this problem so I'm not worried at all. I know I will see you again so while you're all up in that hospital just know there's a whole lot of us that love you bro!

You served your country and all of that - you served the justice system even though your pockets never got fat. Risking your life again and again -I know the Lord has prepared a place for you my friend. But don't get it twisted I don't want you to go - you have a beautiful wife and daughter that need you bro. All I'm saying - you put in a lot of work - you paid your dues and I know miracles are true especially for someone like you!

REPEAT CHORUS

So while you're lying up in that hospital bed - know it's a physical test to strengthen your spirit instead. And I already know that you're a Big Dog homie that's why the Lord allowed this song to flow through me. He uses me every once and a while for things to be said and I thank you right now cause I'm being spiritually fed. I'm howling at the sky for you to come back home because you're a Big Dog homie and without you we don't like to roam.

CHORUS

You're in our prayers. We love you! Get well and come back home soon, man. PEACE OUT!

Bobby Derrick (aka Lil Whit)

Langley - if you want me to send you the actual song so you can listen to it, send me your address at cderrick@gowanco.com and I will mail the recording to you. God bless you!!

Love, Cherry

Keep the faith...you are in my prayers.
